Interpretating childrens’ drawings.
Drawings are known to be a child’s second language, as this is a way to express their inner world. However each child has a different way of doing this depending on their character and critical events that can influence their life.
Drawings are used to understand children’s minds, difficulties, talents and also emotions.
When examining a child’s drawing you need to look at many different graphic characters such as the pressure applied to the tool, the location of each drawing, the size of the elements on the page, and also the child’s colour selection.

The meaning of colours in childrens’ drawings:
A child who uses a balance of colour is a child who has positive emotional qualities. On the other hand a child that uses one colour excessively may have a negative emotional quality to that colour. Each colour shows a child’s quality. When examining a child’s drawing you need to keep in mind the access that this child has to each colour.
-Red = Red represents a dominant child, a child that likes to be the center of attention. Excess use of this colour may mean the child is aggressive.
-Blue = Blue represents a calm child who has peaceful behaviour and is able to commincate camly. They have a calm inner world.
-Green = Children who use green in their drawings are children who may be nature lovers and who also love outdoor play. They are usually quick learners and need freedom and space.
Identifying good social performance in childrens’ drawings:
Children who draw weak lines with little pressure usually shows that they are shy children who find it difficult to adjust to their friends.
Empty spaces and tiny figures may also mean that the child fears rejection.
