Distorted Minds is a project exploring the issues behind violent video games and gaming addiction with teenagers by capturing a 13 year old teenagers reactions while gaming. Up to 90% of American teenagers play video games and as many as 16% are addicted, meaning more than 5 million children are addicted to video games. Distorted Minds is a project which uses glitches to demonstrate the issues behind excessive online gaming and violent games. Studies show that "shooter" video games weakens the brains of young people and places them in greater risk of dementia in later life. Another study also showed that children who play games such as "Call Of Duty" had less grey matter in crucial parts of the brain, causing them harm in their ability to retain memories. In addition to this it has also been shown that people with duplicate white matter in their hippocampus (the part of the brain which is responsive for orientation and for recalling the past experiences) face higher risks of neurological illnesses including depression and schizophrenia.
